Carrots are planted so much and popularly in two riversides. Due to great silt from river, Carrots grow well and give good quality, high production, become famous in domestic and oversea markets. Ducchinh commune, Camgiang district is a locality with long-standing agricultural tradition of Haiduong province. Previously, farmers specialized in growing peanuts and corn but due to low productivity and economic efficiency, they bravely switched to grow carrots.

The safe carrot planting project has been implemented by Ducchinh people since 2007. After 10 years of implementation, the locality has become one of the largest clean carrot fields in the North. Now Ducchinh is supplying stable and great number of carrots for domestic market and for carrot exporters to make a good contribution to Haiduong’s development. In order to get that result, government and people have joined hands to develop areas specializing in carrot cultivation, concentrating in the land of fertile alluvial soil from Thaibinh river.

In addition, Haiduong Department of Agriculture and Rural Development regularly opens training courses, fostering knowledge and transferring technology to farmers. Thereby, people gradually change ineffective farming practices to apply advanced and safer farming techniques. All of these things are making Vietnam carrots  meet exporting carrots criteria  and competitive carrot price

In preparation for planting carrots, first, the soil is hoed very small and then make beds for carrots. Bed height is about 20-25cm. After that, people sprinkle the manure on the bed surface and cover with thin straw. After soaking seeds are mixed with lime powder.

In order to produce safe carrots, during cultivation, farmers do not use fresh manure, or urine to fertilize or irrigate plants, but just use clean water. People also do not abuse the use of inorganic fertilizers or plant protection drugs to spray trees. But they use lime and biological pesticides instead to kill fungus and pests.

thanks to favourable weather, local authorities’ policy to promote agriculture and great demand of carrots, cultivation area keeps expanding yearly. It is the great signs to carrot growers in Vietnam and good conditions to develop their household economy as well as carrot exporters.

Ducchinh carrots grow in a favorable natural environment, contain no toxic chemicals. Because of this, the colors are less eye-catching and lacking in gloss, but the roots are very brittle and sweet. In order to expand the output for products, local authorities create conditions for traders. They can be easy to come to the fields, buy and help farmers save costs and feel secure to produce. In addition, people also boldly invested in equipment for processing and packaging carrots, to improve the quality and economic efficiency.

In 2016, the area of carrots in the commune is 320 hectares, giving 47 tons per hectare. In the winter crop of 2016-2017, Ducchinh commune planted about 360 hectares, harvested over 95%. This is also the commune that has the largest carrot growing area in the province. Every year, Ducchinh supplies thousands of tons of clean carrots to domestic consumers. In addition, products are also distributed in many foreign markets such as Japan, Korea, Indonesia
